Trees

Green vegetation, including Trees, supports all life forms on Earth through photosynthesis which uses solar energy to release oxygen. During this process trees also 'clean' the air by absorbing carbon dioxide, a 'greenhouse' gas and forming glucose which converts into the building blocks for tree growth, starch and cellulose.

Fortunately the Earth is covered by huge forests. The raw material from the boreal forests of Northern Europe and America is used to produce paper and board for packaging. The majority of the liquid packaging board used to supply the UK carton market comes from the Nordic forests of Scandinavia. The three Nordic suppliers, AssiDomän, StoraEnso, and Korsnas have co-operated in producing the NORDIC FORESTRY INITIATIVE web-site.

TREES OF TIME AND PLACE is a national scheme aiming to increase the tree cover of the UK by encouraging people to plant their own Tree of Time and place to mark the Millennium. The Alliance is proud to be a partner in this initiative, offering printed cartons which can be used for sowing the seeds ready for planting out in the year 2000.
